The eZ Bake Oven
A large portion of the product launch centred around the process of making cannabis concentrates—an often labourious, knowledge and hardware-intensive process. In the research for this project, the team landed on the concept of the children toy, EZ Bake Oven, to visually show the input and output in a simplified, recognizable way.
To get to the EZ Bake Oven concept, we first took a field trip to the ‘farm’, the industrial plant where the plant was grown and processed. Here was a state-of-the-art cannabis concentrate operation with the team involved all having degrees in engineering and biology.
Distilling down—no pun intended—the process into a single piece of machinery involved getting a deep understanding into the processes involved. Working in-house meant being able to call up the R&D and concentrates team whenever we had a question. Going right to the source and then applying a design-centric lens meant getting the essential understanding to relay to consumers.
