You know what I realized a couple of weeks ago? How underrated ears are. And I don't mean our ability to hear. I'm talking about those two fleshy, squiggly things we all have on the sides of our face.
Ears have always been handy little hooks for glasses but they really came through this year when we all had to wear masks. Ears kept them in place.
And when we heard of police brutality and racism injustice over and over again? Ears helped us listen to the stories of those who are/were affected and what we can do to help. Listening and not talking is part of the solution.
But you know what else I also realized?
How racist Google search results and stock image sites are.
Go and search the term Ears right now in Google image search. My results gave me a total of FOUR results that were black, indigenous and people of colour. I had to really dig deep for a, hopefully, inclusive set of ears on slide 1.
