The All-Knowing Sarcastic, Cynical 8-Ball.

This Instagram post had been kicking around in my head for a few months. I’ve seen a recent slew of “Instagram marketers” who are focused on ‘education’. That is, using the carousel function to string multiple images together and teach basic, sometime incomprehensible theories on design and marketing. It’s a bit of a circle jerk, to be frank, with few exceptions, and the 2020 version of #like4like.

I’m no genius, so by no means did my mind immediately conjure up what else this feature could be used for.

I wanted to make a cynical version of the beloved Magic 8-Ball, of which there were always an array of sarcastic answers (“Concentrate and try again later”) that I wanted to turn into a parody. It was only while designing the front image that I realized I could turn it into a ‘working toy’ of sorts, with the user closing their eyes and swiping to a random image, getting a random answer.

Now I’m wondering what other childhood games or cultural activities could this be turned into?
